Jacob Wexler (1921-1995)

1921 -  Born in Latvia.  

1930s - Studies at the Academy of Hamburg, Germany.  

1935  - Immigrates to Palestine. Begins painting in an expressionistic style and later refines it into a more stylish and decorative compositions. He was influenced by Braque and Picasso which led him to a decorative and abstract style. His paintings have aesthetics although, at times, over calculated.  

1953 – Participates in the Sao Paolo Biennale in Brazil. 

1960 – Participates in the Graphic Biennale in Tokyo, Japan. 

1966-1984 Head of Israel’s leading  Avni art institute in Tel Aviv.

Wexler was a member of the “New Horizons” Group, one of Israel’s first leading art movements, and his works are included in leading collections
